Nursing Overview
The Undergraduate Nursing Program
The purpose of the undergraduate nursing program is to prepare students for professional nursing careers by providing learning experiences, service learning, and scholarly endeavors, based on a solid liberal arts education in a Catholic health care environment. Undergraduate nurses are prepared to become professional nurse generalists who promote health and provide care for clients in the community in an increasingly global society
There are several admission entry routes into the undergraduate BSN program:
- Generic: a traditional full-time, year-round program for students without any previous professional experience
- BSN for RNs: an innovative and flexible program for Registered Nurses with a Diploma or Associate’s Degree seeking completion of the Bachelor’s degree
- Evening & Weekend: a non-traditional part-time, year-round program which allows the completion of the nursing degree on weekday evenings and weekends
Programs are delivered onsite at West Suburban College of Nursing located within West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, Illinois. Instruction is delivered via traditional face-to-face methods in the classroom for a commuter student body. Courses are supported via the Internet by e-College and several courses are available fully online.
