Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM)

Health Informatics and Information Management Program Mission/Purpose

The mission of the health informatics and information management program is to provide students with the required skills and abilities to be a part of the healthcare team that develops, implements, and uses systems to effectively manage individual and population health information.

Baccalaureate Health Informatics and Information Management Program Objectives

Students will demonstrate the ability to:
  1. Apply critical thinking skills within the HIIM domains of practice.
  2. Communicate effectively throughout the healthcare spectrum.
  3. Model professional behaviors that adhere to professional standards, practice and ethical decision making in the workplace.
  4. Plan, implement and assess business interventions for institutions with diverse cultures
    in a variety of settings.
  5. Serve as role models for others in the profession through acquisition of appropriate credentials and through active involvement in professional organizations.
  6. Apply personal attitudes and attributes critical to HIIM professional leadership.
