The Graduate Nursing Program
The purpose of the graduate nursing program is to prepare nurses in advanced nursing roles to function within the health care system for the purpose of delivering cost-effective quality outcomes. The graduate curriculum allows the graduate student to receive a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. A set of graduate core courses is required for all program majors. Each nursing major has either a set of clinical core courses or nursing administrative core courses representing course work from the biological, behavioral and organizational sciences as determined by the major. In addition, advanced clinical specialty courses and practicum experiences are required for individual program majors.
Graduate Nursing Program Objectives
- Apply effective modes of communication in the provision of care to clients and aggregates.
- Synthesize critical thinking processes used to make logical decisions in advanced nursing practice.
- Demonstrate professional behaviors and assume leadership roles consistent with standards, regulatory and ethical codes in the profession and community.
- Apply theoretical and research-based nursing interventions directed at clients and aggregates.
