A Message from the Chancellor

West Suburban College traces its origin to 1914, and has always excelled in offering quality education. An unknown author defines the attainment of excellence as caring more than others think is wise, risking more than others think is safe, dreaming more than others think is practical, and expecting more than others think is possible. The College has demonstrated a commitment to performance excellence in receiving the 2003 Lincoln Bronze award. In recognition of this achievement, on April 21, 2004, in Springfield, Illinois, the West Suburban College of Nursing was honored by the House of Representatives of the 93rd Illinois General Assembly when House Resolution HR780 was read into record.

West Suburban College of Nursing envisions setting the standard for professional nursing and health science education within an integrated Catholic healthcare system in metropolitan Chicago. The College provides exceptional education for nursing students, ranking as one of the top nursing programs in the nation.
A strong liberal arts and science foundation, quality teaching and scholarly activity have contributed to the College’s success. Students are developed to be knowledgeable, caring, responsive and self-directed individuals. The curricula focuses on preparing students to function across the health continuum in acute care and community settings.
We are entering a new era and have expanded program offerings to include not only undergraduate nursing, but, also graduate nursing programs. We have recently been approved by the Higher Learning Commission to offer bachelor's programs in Health Informatics and Health Care Management.
Support of alumni and benefactors, dedication of the faculty, and the success of the students are indicative of a strong program. The program is designed to accommodate both the traditional pre-nursing student and working student as well as foster second degrees and degree completion.
We welcome your thoughts and ideas as we continue to craft quality nursing and health science education to prepare health care professionals for the 21st century.
